The lack of physical activity has also been linked to the resistance as active cells convert stores glucose to energy and absorb more from the bloodstream regulating sugar levels. Other causes include sleeping problems, old age, certain medications and use of steroids, and family history.

However, this condition is liable to reverse through active physicals as well as weight loss. Calorie reduction also plays an important role in allowing cells access the actions of the hormone increasing sugar metabolism.
