Reasonable Sunless Tanning For Business Women

By Haywood Hunter

Women today are not only looks conscious but also very health conscious. They are heeding the warnings of doctors and dermatologists about the dangers of sun exposure and ultra violet radiation. With the significant increase in cases of skin cancer over the past few years many people know how serious this condition is and are taking all the appropriate steps to avoid it.

The FDA and American Cancer Society have given their approval to many of the sun free tanning products. They know that more and more people are looking for a safer alternative that can be guaranteed to give outstanding results time after time. Sunless tanning booths are now very common at most salons and spas in towns and cities throughout the country.

It only takes about fifteen minuets to apply the solution. Most professional applications are done using an air brush system. This is a simple compressor with a length of tubing. The solution is forced out in a fine mist. This is applied to the skin in a light but even layer. It does take about six hours for the solution to work and clients are advised to avoid swimming, bathing or sweating in that time.

In recent years there has been a lot of publicity about the harmful effects of many skin care products. Yet the new tanning lotions, creams and gels are quite unique in that aspect. They are made from biodegradable ingredients that have not been tested on animals. In addition they are environmentally friendly and made from many naturally derived materials.

People often wonder exactly how the tanners work. It is a simple process in which enzymes in the solution react with chemicals in the skin cells. The tan appears almost immediately and continues to darken for the next six hours. As the skin replaces itself within about ten days the tan will fade away. The deeper layers of skin remain unaffected.

There are a few key points to keep in mind before getting a sunless tan. It is very important to exfoliate the skin thoroughly before the solution is applied. It cannot adhere to dead skin and will leave patches or different shades of color. Lotions, creams and make up should not be worn as these too will affect the solutions ability to be absorbed into the skin. After the treatment it is vital not to shower, swim or sweat for the next six hours when the process will be complete.

Before beginning the tanning process it is very important to shower and remove any dead or dry skin. This is because the solution cannot react with dead skin and will result in an uneven tan. No lotion, creams or make up should be worn during the treatment.

The solution adheres best to clean dry skin that does not have any lotions or creams applied. These can interfere with the absorption of the solution and lead to a blotchy look. Any rough or dry skin should be exfoliated so the solution can soak in evenly.
