Spices and herbs are also excellent sources diabetes fighting components. Two of the most effective herbs are cinnamon and turmeric. Cinnamon reduces blood sugar levels and in the process fights off heart diseases. The use of turmeric dates back to thousands of years with the benefits accrued including anti-oxidation and anti-inflammation properties.

Fruits and vegetables are not only healthy for the body but they reverse diabetes. They come with anti-inflammation and ant-oxidant properties that reduce the adverse effects of diabetes. Some of the excellent fruits to consider are mango leaves, blue berries and Indian goose berries. Some of the benefits offered by goose berries include curbing cardiac related complications, reducing hyperglycemia and promoting proper functioning of the pancreas. Mango leaves are also excellent in checking glucose level.

Grains, nuts and beans are excellent in lowering the level of blood sugar besides being fun to chew. Experts prefer whole grains over the processed ones. Some of the best grains to use for this purpose include wild rice, oats, barley and amaranth. Cannellini beans also offer an excellent healthy option with their consumption controlling the level of blood sugar effectively.

Beyond taking the right foods, it helps to plan your meal. Ensure that you eat every four hours. Avoid eating two to three hours before going to bed.
