Services Offered By Hair Loss Clinic For Women

By Diane Kennedy

Hair loss is also referred to as alopecia or commonly known as baldness. It refers to hair deficiency to most parts of the body. The head is the most common part where it occurs. According to some people, this causes psychological distress to a person. The types of this are female and male pattern hair loss, telogen effluvium, and alopecia areata. In telogen effluvium, it becomes very thin.

Alopecia or baldness may involve medications and surgery. Its severity may vary from small areas then up to the entire body. Since this usually happens in women, hair loss clinic for women Delaware is offering some services and medications for these.

In males, the usual cause is the combination of male hormone which is the dihydrotestosterone and genetics. For females, the cause still remains unclear. There are 3 medications that shows the evidence for the treatment for males and these are the finasteride, dutasteride, and minoxidil. These are used for preventing further loss rather than regrown. These are used together if there is a progressive loss. Some other medications include ketoconazole.

Finasteride is proved to have a thirty percent in its improvement after a length of six months. But this will only be effective if consistently taken. This drug may cause gynecomastia, erectile dysfunction, and depression. This drug are not recommended for the women. Another medication is the minoxidil that is said to be effective for men and women within three to six months. A ketoconazole can also be recommended for women. The spironolactone is also more common for the women since it causes infertility to men. Pregnant women are not recommended to take this drug to avoid ambiguous genitalia to the newborn baby.

Another popular treatment of this is through transplantation that involves some surgical techniques. The process starts from getting the follicles from some body parts or donor site and transferring it to the part which is bald or recipient site. This is usually the treatment for men. Hair follicles will then be transplanted to bald scalp.

Other people in Delaware believes that there are still unproven treatments. But despite of this, small evidences have been proven for its effectiveness. The treatments include vitamins, minerals, and other dietary supplements for retain and regrown. Another unproven treatment is laser therapy. Laser therapy uses safe lasers and lights.

For dietary supplements, one small evidence for saw palmetto is being used, but it is not typically recommended unlike some other dietary supplements. Saw palmetto is said to be tentative benefit for those with only mild to moderate androgenetic alopecia. Other supplements like biotin, aloe vera, gingko, bergamot, and ginseng were also used.

Deficiency of hair can be prevented or can be slowed with medications while it is still on its early stages. According to some researches, there can be connection between the loss and other health issues. This health issue can be a heart disease.

People often say that it is connected to coronary artery disease, but some articles says that it is not true since it is not yet proven. According to some dermatologists, further studies should be conducted first. Some factors are still being reviewed.
